Showit SHARE Shootout

Whew! Say that three times fast! This past Wednesday, Jen and I met up with some of our favorite photographers turned friends for the second SHARE group meeting!  A SHARE group is something that our website company Showit has organized for photographers all over the country to connect, collaborate and network.

I know we have gushed about Showit before, and how it has legitimized our web presence, but the community that embraces Showit is unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of. And I admit, wholeheartedly, that I was really skeptical about Showit at first. How could something be sooooo great that it had all these people gushing over it…it almost seemed too good to be true. But then I realized that several of my favorite photographers, people who I looked up to and admire, were using Showit. And it wasn’t just that they had amazing websites (which they do), but they were so freely giving of their time, their information, their “secrets”. I couldn’t believe that there was a whole company centered around the idea of SHARING information with each other. We have dealt with a lot of cattiness, competitiveness, back stabbing and just plain mean-ness as photographers, and becoming part of the Showit community was like a big breath of fresh, mountain, cool spring water air. It’s THAT good. : )

The ever-amazing Katelyn, organized a little get together and dinner for us in Richmond and it was a blast! We all took turns shooting each other, but beyond the great new head shots, I just felt so happy to be surrounded by such positive, giving, and wonderful people. Knowing these people are in our corner to cheer us on, offer advice and be our friends is truly something we cherish. We all live within 2-3 hours of each other, so by all standards we should be seeing each other as “competition”, but I just don’t. I see them as colleagues, people that I am going to celebrate every success with, and people who I will be there for when we all need a little support. We love you all!  – A + J

First up, my lovely and talented photo partner for the day Laura Gordon!

The absolutely adorable Chrissy Henry and her perfect accessories : )

The girl who gives me major fashion and hair envy, Tori Watson.

And one half of the amazing 88 Love Stories duo, Stephanie (who was also Jen’s photo partner for the day)!

Some behind the scenes sillies…this isn’t intimidating at all, right Chrissy?!
