Date Days | Charlottesville Wine Tasting

Hard to believe based off the weather outside, but last week was one of the most gorgeous weeks on record in Virginia. Perfect fall days, chilly fall nights, and the colors were absolutely magical.

I spent three days at Wintergreen Resort while Jeremy participated in a work conference, and it was so refreshing and amazing to be sitting on the porch, surrounded by the colors of the best season of the year. It made me feel rejuvenated and excited about the remaining weddings we have coming up!

Following the conference, Jeremy and I spent a “date day” around Charlottesville, Virginia, doing wine and beer tastings and soaking up all that Virginia has to offer in the Fall. Fried pickles and beer at Devil’s Backbone , lunch and beer flights at Blue Mountain Brewery, hard cider and a cidery tour at Bold Rock Cider , wine tasting and perfect scenery at Veritas Winery, and ending up with pizza at Mellow Mushroom. We have been so unbelievably busy this year and although we are SO thankful for that, sometimes it’s just plain hard because we don’t get to spend a lot of time together. It’s awesome that we work in the same industry, but since Jeremy isn’t full time yet, when he gets home from his day job, he inevitably has lots of editing to do. So although we live together, sometimes we spend maybe 15 minutes together before bed. So this “date day” was a long time in the making.

We just celebrated 8 months of marriage (crazy!!) and it’s SO important to take days to just BE. Be together, be in the moment, be without the worry and stress of a million looming deadlines, and be mindful of nurturing and strengthening our marriage and friendship. It’s easy to just say “we’ll do it when things slow down”, but we all know that that is easier said than done. So I highly encourage all of my wedding industry friends to remember to make time for day dates with those most important in their lives (and yes, pets TOTALLY count!!) – A
